New York City Firefighters Speak Out on Ground Zero Snub

Joint Statement from Steve Cassidy, President of the Uniformed Firefighters Association and Alexander Hagan, President of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association

"We are deeply disappointed that New York City Firefighters and Fire Officers have been excluded from attending and participating in ceremonies marking the tenth anniversary of 9-11, taking place at the World Trade Center site.

It would have been an honor to stand alongside the families who lost loved ones that day. Firefighters and fire officers have strong emotional ties to all the victims, as we were the ones trying to save them.

They needed us ten years ago, and we are certain that they will need us again, if God forbid there is another terrorist attack."
