4-Alarm Bronx Fire Under Control, 6 Minor Injuries

Associated Press - December 22, 2010

NEW YORK - The Fire Department says a four-alarm fire in the Bronx is under control.

Spokesman Rich Viglione (vil-YOHN') says six civilians suffered minor injuries.

He says about 140 firefighters were called out to battle the Tuesday blaze on the Grand Concourse near East Tremont Avenue. That's about a mile north of Yankee Stadium.

Viglione says the fire was declared under control at 2:37 p.m.

Earlier, spokesman Frank Dwyer said there were flames on the seventh, eighth and ninth floors of the building.
