Firefighters' Union Sues City Over Alleged Dispatch Error

NY 1 - December 18, 2010

The firefighters' union has sued the city for records related to a deadly two-alarm fire in the Bronx.

The Uniformed Firefighters Association wants to prevent the 9-1-1 tapes on the fire at East 169th Street in Mount Eden on November 27 from being destroyed.

Union leaders said the tapes will show a dispatch error delayed firefighters from arriving on scene and bringing the fire under control quickly.

Sources told NY1 Friday that say when police listened to the tapes, it was the caller who gave the wrong address.

Juan Marte, 48, was killed in the fire.

Lawyers for the city said on Friday that they had not yet received the paperwork.
