9/11 Stamp Act Deadline Near
The Federal 9-11 Heroes Stamp Act has raised more than $10.5 million for eligible candidates and families affected by 9-11. FEMA is the Federal Agency responsible for distributing the funds raised.
For information or to download the application, please visit http://www.usfa.fema.gov/heroesstamp/. The application deadline TO BE RECEIVED BY FEMA is 5 p.m. on April 3, 2006, NO EXCEPTIONS.
If after reviewing the guidelines you believe that you qualify for the program and wish to apply, then you should submit an application. Your employer is required to verify certain parts of the application.
We advise members who have been found permanently disabled by the three-man 1-B Board as a result of 9-11 (i.e. pulmonary, etc) to submit the application. Remember, if you do not submit an application, you won’t be eligible to receive any benefits. When in doubt, fill it out!!!
Please note that the Department requires the signature on page 4 to be notarized before completing the employer verification section.
Firefighters, Fire Marshals and Fire Officers should submit pages 3 and 4 of the application to the FDNY, 9 MetroTech Center, Room 8N-5, Attn: Alex Fisher, Brooklyn, NY 11201
Once reviewed by the Department, these pages will be returned to all applicants so that they may submit a complete package to FEMA BY APRIL 3rd.
We urge the membership to share this important information with the retirees and members on Light Duty of their respective firehouses that may have been affected.
Applications that require additional information will be returned by FEMA but will have met the provided deadline.
***Funds will distributed equally to all applicants who meet the criteria.**
