- UFA Annual Financial Report
In accordance with the UFA Constitution UFA Financial Statements are being mailed this week to each Delegate and Firehouse for posting. The report will also be a special order of business at the April 13 General Membership Union Meeting.
- Retro Uniform Allowance
FDNY Payroll reports that all members who were eligible and received uniform maintenance allowance in December 2005 will receive $91.67 in retroactive uniform allowance in the April 7th Paycheck. The uniform maintenance allowance increased by $100 annually effective August 1, 2005 in accordance with the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. The retroactive money covers the 11 months from August 1, 2005 thru June 30, 2006 fiscal year, which is consistent with how this allowance is paid each December. Uniform Payroll has not yet released a date that holiday pay retroactive money will be paid. All other retroactive monies, including any OT, has already been paid. Members who believe there has been an error in their paychecks should submit a payroll inquiry (include all proper documentation) with the assistance of your officer.
- FDNY-NYPD Hockey Game
The Annual FDNY / NYPD Hockey Game is on Sat April 8th at 1pm at Nassau Coliseum. For more info, log on to www.fdnyhockey.com.
- Blood Drive at FDNY - NYPD Hockey Game
Taking place before and during the FDNY / NYPD Hockey Game Sat April 8, 8:30 AM 2:00 PM at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale. Pre-register by calling 516-478-5066 and receive 2 tickets to the game. Receive official “Played Hockey-Gave Blood” T-shirt when donation received. Sponsored by Nassau County HS Hockey League.
- Police / Fire Run
Sat. April 8, 2006, at 1000 hours, the 29th Annual Police/Fire Run will be held in Central Park. All active and retired members are eligible to participate (guests may run, but without a number). Race starts at 103rd Street and Central Park Drive in Central Park. Registration is at P.S. 171 located at 19 East 103rd Street between 5th and Madison Avenue. - Palm Sunday Mass at Brooklyn Wall of Remembrance
Annual Palm Sunday Mass will take place Sun April 9 at 130 PM at the Brooklyn Wall of Remembrance, Keyspan Park, 1904 Surf Ave, Coney Island. All are invited to attend. Seating is limited. Dress for the weather. This is an outside event. Rain location will be Our Lady of Solace Shrine - West 17th Street and Mermaid Ave.
- FDNY Baseball Team Tryouts

- Annual Day at the Circus
The Annual Day at the Circus for the handicapped children of NYC will be held on April 10 at MSG. FDNY members will meet at 0830 hours at the employee’s entrance, W33rd Street and 8th Avenue, Manhattan. - FDNY Cycling Team Benefit Bikeride
FDNY Cycling is taking part in benefit bicycle ride in Manhattan. Laurent Robin, a French Firefighter, has been cycling around the world to raise money for a sick child in his hometown. Members will be riding with him as he arrives here in NY City on April 14th from Montclair, NJ via the George Washington Bridge, down the West side to Ground Zero. Cyclists can do the entire ride (about 20 miles), or join at the GWB for the trek Downtown. This is a non-supported ride (must be self sufficient),and open to traffic. - Lt John Bellew Memorial 5K Run
Sat April 15 beginning at Pearl River Volunteer Firehouse 58 Central Avenue, Pearl River, NY at 11 AM. $15 by April 8th, $20 after and on Race Day, $5 children under 12. Day includes a 1/5 mile race for children under 8 at 10AM, 1/2 mile race for kids between 7 and 12 at 1030AM (all kids receive medals), post race party. - FDNY Boxing Smoker
Fri April 21st at 8pm the FDNY Boxing Bravest will host a smoker at Christ the King High School, 69-02 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, Queens. Tickets: $20 for General Admission. 1/2 of proceeds will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. For more info log on to www.FDNYBOXING.com.
- 8th Annual Scott’s Race
Sun. April 23rd at 1000 AM taking place at Clove Lakes Park, Staten Island. The annual event honors the memory of Captain Scott LaPiedra and raises money for the UFA Thomas Elsasser Fund and the FDNY Widow’s and Children’s Fund. - 5th Haskell Brothers Golf Outing / Dinner Dance
Taking place May 25th at Lido Beach Golf Club, Lido Beach, NY. Dedicated to the memory of brothers Timothy and Thomas Haskell who gave their lives in the performance of duty on 9/11. This year the event is raising funds for the FF Transport Foundation and the Honor Legion. The event sells out quickly each year. - America’s 9-11 Ride - Scholarship Applications
The annual ride from the Pentagon to the WTC provides the means for children of ALL 1st responders to be eligible for scholarships to help pay for college. This year’s deadline is April 30th. All necessary info is provided at www.americas911ride.org. Candidates need to download forms and return them to the provided address by April 30th to qualify.
- Engine 201 4th Annual Vegas Night
Taking place Sat. May 6th from 7 PM - 1 AM at OLPH Notre Dame Hall, 60th St & 6th Ave, Brooklyn. $40 at the door will be exchanged for $500 in chips. Food and beverage included. Night includes 50/50, raffles, door prizes and Texas Hold em’ Tourney. Proceeds raised benefit Engine 201 Memorial Fund and Thomas Elsasser Scholarship Fund.
