Remembering FDNY Firefighter Robert Ryan One Year Later

FirefighterHourly.com - November 24, 2009

Robert Ryan spent 17 years battling blazes in New York City. Having been burned severely earlier in his career he was able to work his way back into the job after a lot of effort and hard work.

On November 23, 2008 Ryan responded with his engine company to a private dwelling with fire showing in the attic. The location was in the New Brighton neighborhood of Staten Island. As his company stretched a line to the attic a collapse occurred resulting in Ryan's SCBA face piece being dislodged. He was taken to the street for care and transported to Richmond University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

We remember Robert Ryan for his bravery, sacrifice and courage. One year later and still not forgotten.
