SI Advance - November 22, 2009

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The first annual Stephen Siller Children's Foundation Gala will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, 6 p.m. at Cipriani Wall Street at 55 Wall St., Manhattan. The black-tie event will include a cocktail hour, live entertainment, sit-down dinner, and live and silent auctions. Tickets are $600. For additional information, call 718-987-1931 or visit .

Former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani will serve as honoree chair. Serving as "Honorary Heroes" are actor and community leader John Turturro and George Martin, executive director of the National Football League Alumni Association, who founded a Journey for 9/11 when he walked across the country to raise money to provide health care for 9/11 responders and increase awareness about the illnesses affecting those responders.

The foundation was created in honor of fallen city firefighter Stephen Siller, killed on Sept. 11, 2001. His legendary run back to Manhattan through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel has been memorialized by the annual Tunnel to Towers run in which 25,000 people take part.

Proceeds will be donated to the New York Foundling, FDNY Pediatric Burn Centers, Wounded Warrior Project, and counseling, financial support and other related activities such as the Freedom Alliance Scholarship that supports children who have lost one or both parents in the line of duty.
