Five-Alarm Fire Tears Through Bronx Strip Mall

NY 1 - October 31, 2009

A five-alarm fire tore through a Bronx strip mall early this morning, leaving more than a dozen stores in ruins. It took around 200 firefighters several hours to bring the fire in Norwood under control.

A nearby Mexican restaurant and a bakery were open at the time, but the customers escaped without harm.

One fireman had minor injuries.

At this time, fire officials are trying to determine how the fire started.
