Students at a Staten Island Catholic school got a scare Thursday when their school bus collided with an SUV - launching both vehicles through a fence into a backyard.

The city-funded bus - with 26 children, a driver and a matron onboard - was a short distance from Our Lady Star of the Sea School when it collided with a Cadillac Escalade at about 3p.m., Fire Department officials said.

Four people were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries - two students, the 65-year-old bus driver and an 11-year-old boy who had to be extracted from the SUV, said FDNY Lt. Ralph Mustillo.
