Resignation Of Queens Trustee Nomination Petitions For Vacant Office Must Be Submitted By June 9, 2009The UFA Queens Trustee, Steve Humenesky delivered a letter to UFA President Steve Cassidy on May 26, 2009, stating his intention to resign as Queens Trustee, effective August 1, 2009. The UFA thanks Steve for his dedicated service to not only Queens Firefighters, but the entire UFA membership.
Nominations for Steve Humenesky's replacement as Queens Trustee will take place on June 11, 2009 at the next General Membership Meeting.
Pursuant to Article VI of the UFA Constitution, any member in good standing wishing to run for the position must submit a petition containing the signatures of at least 50 Queens members in good standing. The petition must state that it is for the position of Queens Trustee and must contain the candidate's name. The petition MUST be submitted to UFA Recording Secretary Joe Miccio at the UFA office no later than 5 p.m. on June 9, 2009 so that the Election Committee can validate the petitions before the June 11 nomination meeting.
Once the nominations are made at the June 11 meeting and the candidate(s) accept their nomination, the election of the new Queens Trustee will take place in accordance with the schedule set forth in the UFA Constitution. The new Trustee will take office on the effective date of Steve Humenesky's resignation, August 1, 2009.
