A Bronx man was clinging to life Sunday night after a fire tore through part of his apartment building, neighbors and officials said.

The man, who neighbors said is in his 70s, was taken to Jacobi Medical Center Sunday night and was listed in critical condition.

He wasn't breathing on his own," said Magalys Ali, 39, who lives down the block on Monroe Ave.

The FDNY said the 8:45 p.m. blaze destroyed a basement apartment in the five-story building.
