MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A two-alarm fire broke out Thursday morning in a pizza restaurant in a five-story Midtown East building, authorities said.
Fire crews responded at 11:27 a.m. to a reported fire at 130 East 31st Street. They determined the fire was burning inside Vezzo, a thin-crust pizza restaurant on the ground floor of the building at the corner of 31st and Lexington Avenue, an FDNY spokesperson said.
The fire was brought under control by 1:09 p.m., the spokesperson said. One firefighter suffered a minor injury but declined to be hospitalized.
As of noon Thursday, about 106 firefighters were at the scene attempting to put out the fire.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
