FDNY Responds to Fire at Miller Field Aircraft Hangar

Joseph Ostapiuk | jostapiuk@siadvance.com STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The FDNY responded to a fire at the vacant aircraft hanger on Miller Field, the department said Sunday evening.

Approximately 12 FDNY vehicles and 60 FDNY personnel descended on the scene after a call of a fire at the location at 6:09 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

No injuries were reported as a result of the response, the spokesman said.

The fire was placed under control at 6:36 p.m., and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
