FDNY Extinguishes 2nd-Floor Fire in West Brighton

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The FDNY battled a fire on the top floor of a multiple-family home in West Brighton on Friday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 1:49 p.m. on the second floor of a two-story home at 191 Bement Ave., according to a spokesman for FDNY.

Twelve units and a total of 60 FDNY members responded to the scene, the spokesman said.

The fire was under control by 2:11 p.m. and no injuries were reported, according to the spokesman.

Several windows appeared to have shattered on the top floor in the front and rear of the building.

According to the spokesman, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
