FDNY Responds to House Fire in New Brighton

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The FDNY quickly extinguished a fire at a home in New Brighton on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire was called at about 12:03 p.m. for the first floor of a residence at 196 Corson Ave. About 60 firefighters and 12 units battled the “all-hands” fire, according to the FDNY.

The fire was brought under control at about 12:35 p.m. A total of four civilians were treated at the scene.

FDNY requested a structural stability inspection because of the fire, according to information on the city Buildings Department website.
