STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The FDNY quickly extinguished a fire in Elm Park Sunday evening after it stretched from a car to an adjacent home, a spokesman for the department said.

Firefighters responded to a semi-attached home on Winant Street, near Richmond Terrace, at approximately 6:33 p.m., according to an FDNY spokesman.

The fire began from a car and briefly affected the first floor of the home, the spokesman said.

After an “all hands” FDNY response, the blaze was put out in approximately 15 minutes, according to the FDNY.

Vehicle traffic was blocked on Winant Street during the response.
