FDNY Quickly Quells Oakwood Fire Sunday Night

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The FDNY quickly extinguished a fire in a row of houses in Oakwood Sunday night.

Firefighters responded to the scene, located on the 400 block of Falcon Avenue, after the FDNY received a call for a fire on the first-floor of a two-story home at 8:24 p.m., according to an FDNY spokesman.

The fire was reportedly placed under control at 8:44 p.m., the spokesman said.

The fire appeared to affect multiple homes within the group of attached residences. FDNY and NYPD units were seen canvassing through the first story of the building after the blaze was placed under control.
