FORT GREENE, Brooklyn — A man is dead after flames ripped through a Brooklyn home early Monday, the FDNY confirmed.
According to authorities, a call came in just after 3 a.m. for flames on the first floor of a four-story residential building on Adelphi Street, just past Dekalb Avenue, in the Fort Greene neighborhood.
Fire crews found the man unconscious in the lobby of the building. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
The fire was put under control by firefighters just before 4 a.m., according to fire officials.
The victim's identity has not currently been released by authorities and the exact cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner, police said.
Fire officials described the fire as "suspicious" and said they are investigating the cause.
