Firefighters Hurt in Crown Heights Restaurant Blaze, FDNY Says

Two firefighters suffered non-life-threatening injuries while putting out a fire on Eastern Parkway.

CROWN HEIGHTS, NY — Two firefighters were hurt battling a Wednesday morning fire at an Eastern Parkway restaurants, an FDNY spokesman said.

The blaze broke out shortly before 4:30 a.m. in the first-floor eatery of 1122 Eastern Parkway, located near the corner of Utica Avenue, fire officials said. Twelve fire units and 60 firefighters worked to bring the fire under control by 5:53 a.m., fire officials said.

Upper floors of the three-story building were not affected by the fire, but video from the scene showed smoke coming from windows. The restaurant Fisherman's Cove is located on the ground floor of the building, and the upper floors are apartments.

Two of the firefighters were transported to Kings County hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, an FDNY spokesman said.

The cause of the fire will be investigated by city fire marshals, an FDNY spokesman said.
