Washington Heights Apartment Fire Hurts 3, FDNY Says

Three people were injured Monday morning when a fire broke out on the first floor of a Fort George Avenue apartment building.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Three people were hurt Monday morning when a fire broke out at a Washington Heights apartment building, an FDNY spokesman said.

Firefighters responded to a call of fire on the first floor of 121 Fort George Avenue, near Audubon Avenue, shortly after 5 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said. The fire prompted an "all hands" response, which meant 12 units with 60 fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene, the spokesman said.

Three building residents suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene, an FDNY spokesman said.

Firefighters put the blaze out by 6:15 a.m., fire officials said. Cty fire marshals will investigate the case of the fire.
