STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Dozens of emergency units responded to reports of a fire inside a Port Richmond auto shop Saturday evening, according to an FDNY spokesman.

At approximately 7:05 p.m., firefighters were called to a blaze at Abe’s Auto Body, at the intersection of Richmond Terrace and Housman Avenue, said the spokesman.

Twelve units and more than 60 firefighters responded to the all-hands blaze, he said.

The spokesman said firefighters placed the fire under control at 7:33 p.m.

No injuries were reported from the scene, he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, said the spokesman.

NYPD units had Richmond Terrace blocked off between Wright Avenue and Winant Street while FDNY units tended to the blaze.

There was visible exterior damage to the roof and side of the auto repair shop following the fire.
