Fire Breaks Out in High-Rise Near Grand Central: FDNY

EAST MIDTOWN, NY — A fire broke out at an East Midtown landmarked high-rise building near Grand Central Friday morning, an FDNY spokesperson said.

The fire broke out on the second floor of the building in an electrical closet at the 31-story landmarked Graybar building, located at 420 Lexington Ave. near Grand Central, the FDNY said.

Twelve units and 60 firefighters rushed to the fire about 9:05 a.m. Friday, the spokesperson said.

Firefighters were still at the building about 9:30 a.m., though the bulk of the fire had been knocked down, the spokesperson said.

No injuries were reported.
