CROWN HEIGHTS - The NYPD Bomb Squad stopped traffic for a block in each direction on Utica Avenue and Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights as they investigated a suspicious package Sunday.
The package had a timer, duct tape and wires on it, but was determined to not be dangerous. An NYPD bomb specialist rigged a tool to the device that created a quick blast, then gave the all-clear.
Police say they were flagged down by a pedestrian who had noticed the package. The NYPD and FDNY were not allowing anyone to leave or go into surrounding businesses until the area was cleared.
Trains were also stopped. The area where the bomb was found is above the Utica Avenue subway station.
The streets have since reopened and trains are running through the area again.
The NYPD says they're questioning a man in connection with the incident.
