FARMINGDALE - Family, friends and members of the FDNY gathered Saturday at the corner of Rita Place and Crestwood Boulevard in Farmingdale for a street dedication ceremony for FDNY Captain John Moschella.

Moschella, who grew up in Farmingdale on Rita Place, passed away in December due to 9/11-related cancer. He had been part of the search and rescue team after the 9/11 attacks – searching for survivors and trying to recover those who died.

Moschella's friends say the FDNY captain was a devoted husband, a good friend and always visited his parents on his days off from work.
