BRONX - One of three Americans killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan was an FDNY firefighter in the Bronx.

The president of the FDNY's union posted on Twitter that Christopher Slutman was one of those service members killed.

Slutman and two other service members died after a roadside bomb exploded on Monday. A civilian contractor was also wounded.

The decorated 15-year FDNY veteran worked at Ladder 27 in the Bronx and was also a U.S. Marine. He was a married father of three.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility. The attack happened as U.S. officials try and negotiate a peace deal with the Taliban to end the 18-year-long war.
