The 51-year-old worker who was seriously injured following a scaffolding incident in Manhattan Monday morning has died, authorities say.
The FDNY says a coping stone, also known as a copestone, fell from a higher level of a building on Second Avenue and 50th Street around 11:55 a.m. striking the worker, later identified as Nelson Salinas of Queens, in the head.
The city's Department of Buildings says "workers were performing permitted minor facade repairs outside of the building at the time of the incident, when a piece of the building's parapet fell on top of a worker."
The investigation is ongoing. No other injuries were reported.
