STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- At least five people were injured in a residential fire in Port Richmond on Thursday morning.
A civilian was critically injured and four firefighters suffered minor injuries in the blaze that was called at 5:49 a.m. for a multi-family dwelling at 170 Hatfield Place, according to a spokeswoman for the FDNY and the FDNY Twitter feed.
All of the injured were taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton, according to the spokeswoman.
A person who appeared to be severely injured was spotted being treated at the scene.
At least 60 firefighters and EMS personnel and 12 units brought the “all-hands” fire under control at about 7:02 a.m., the spokeswoman said.
