STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- City firefighters (FDNY) have extinguished a blaze that ignited Sunday morning in a first-floor apartment at the Park Hill Houses in Clifton, said an FDNY spokesman.

FDNY responded to a call of a fire in 280 Park Hill Ave., a seven-story building, at 11:03 a.m., said the spokesman. The fire was contained to an apartment on the first floor, he said.

While firefighters have extinguished the blaze, the FDNY is still on scene.

There were no reported injuries as of Sunday afternoon.
