STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Two firefighters were injured battling a blaze at a commercial building in extremely cold and windy conditions on Monday morning.
The firefighters, who suffered minor injuries, were taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton, according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS.
The fire was called at 12:08 a.m. for the second floor of a three-story building with a storefront on the first floor at 851 Forest Ave., according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS.
The “all-hands” fire was brought under control by 12 units and 60 firefighters at 12:44 a.m., the spokesman said.
A civilian who refused medical attention also suffered minor injuries, the spokesman said.
