STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.-- A house fire Wednesday in Eltingville drew a large FDNY response, as the NYPD shut down residential streets and neighbors gathered nearby.
No injuries were reported, in a blaze that ripped through the first and second floor of the private dwelling at the intersection of Perkiomen and Wainwright avenues at about 4 p.m., according to an FDNY spokesman
A neighbor said she heard what sounded like a man shouting.
"I came outside because I heard a lot of screaming," said Ariana Cimino, 17.
She said she couldn't make out the words, but that it sounded like a man and it was urgent. When she stepped outside, she saw smoke and flames.
"I actually saw sparks, too, so it might have been that power line," Cimino said.
Sources told the Advance searches for anyone inside the building were negative.
