FDNY Units Rescue One Injured in Crash Near Parkway

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Firefighters rushed to aid a person injured in a crash where a vehicle rolled over near the Korean War Veterans Memorial Parkway in Prince's Bay on Wednesday morning.

The injured person was taken to Staten Island University Hospital in Prince's Bay following the crash, which was called in at 6:16 a.m. on Carlton Avenue between Marcy and Vernon avenues, according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS.

Engine 164 and Ladder 84, housed on nearby Drumgoole Road West, responded within minutes to the crash. Firefighters rescued a person in the vehicle that rolled over and ended up right side up, according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS.

EMS and the NYPD also responded to the crash.

Initial reports from the scene indicated that a box truck and a car collided at that location.
