YONKERS, NY — Thousands of friends, family, and colleagues turned out in Westchester Saturday as Michael Fahy, killed in a gas main explosion in the Bronx, was laid to rest.

More than 10,000 firefighters from all over the country came for the funeral, lining the funeral procession route to and from Annunciation Church in Yonkers.

Fahy was killed early Tuesday morning when a possible marijuana grow house exploded in the Bronx during an investigation into a possible gas leak near West 234th Street and Tibbett Avenue. Two men have been arrested in connection with the case.

More than 20 people were injured in the explosion that killed the Yonkers resident, who grew up in Rockland County and graduated from North Rockland High School.

Fahy was posthumously promoted to Deputy Chief.
