A brand new piledriver suddenly overturned while preparing the foundation at a Brooklyn construction site early Tuesday, officials said.
The machine was driving piles on Voorhies Ave. near Sheepshead Bay Road in Sheepshead Bay, the site of a future residential high-rise, when it tipped over onto its side about 9:10 a.m.
A Department of Buildings spokesman said it was placed improperly on an incline, causing it to fall over.
Firefighters responded and treated one person at the scene, officials said. Diesel fuel spilled during the mishap, requiring a response from the FDNY’s Hazmat team, officials said.
The city Buildings Department issued a stop work order and a violation for failing to safeguard the site.
