Chauffeur and Spare Apparatus

UFA Health and Safety Officer / Sergeant-at-Arms Bill Romaka wishes to remind the Membership to take their safety responsibilities seriously at all times. We will continue to highlight and remind our members of "safe actions" as spelled out by the Department. Stay well, and stay safe!

The FDNY Regulations Chapter 13, "Apparatus and Equipment" states the following:

13.4 Duties and Responsibilities of Chauffeurs

13.4.2 They shall be thoroughly familiar with Training Bulletin "Apparatus C-2" and regulations pertaining to their duties and responsibilities.

13.4.3 They shall be responsible for the condition and proper operation of the apparatus under their control. They shall be constantly alert for any defects, required repairs or supplies and, when such become necessary, immediately notify the officer on duty.

**Please refer to the FDNY Regulations Chapter 13 to familiarize yourself with its full content. It is also important to review AUC 264, "Apparatus Repair, Exchange & Storage Procedures" as well as "Training Bulletin Apparatus C-2" referenced above. Please take particular note of Company Journal Entries and have a full understanding that at no time should an unsafe apparatus be put into service. With the lack of adequate spares, more responsibility and attention needs to be taken to the condition of any spare apparatus. Please do not hesitate to call the UFA Health and Safety Officer should you encounter any resistance in your pursuit of safet.
