1. Putnam County Holiday Blood Drive

2. 28th Annual City Harvest Canned Food Drive
REMINDER: As per Dept. Order #85 on Thursday, November 18th the 28th annual City Harvest Canned Food Drive began. The drive will continue until January 7, 2011. All firehouses have been designated as collection points for the public who wish to donate canned food. Members should also expect schoolchildren to be bringing donations to the firehouses. Call Racine Rodriguez at 917-351-8711 (email: email@example.com) to arrange a pick-up date for City Harvest to collect the donations. City Harvest will have trucks available in all five boroughs. Their goal is to pick up within 48 hours.y January 14, 2011. No reimbursement requests will be accepted after this date.
3. NYS Honorary Fire Chiefs Scholarship
REMINDER: The NYS Honorary Fire Chiefs will be granting two $2,500 scholarships to active members of the UFA who will be enrolled in college level classes in the 2011-2012 school year. To be eligible, please list your current college standing and number of credits earned, as well as the name of the school you are / will be attending and your major. Please include a three paragraph essay on your plans once you have completed your degree. Also please describe why you should be considered for this scholarship: i.e., your contributions to the FDNY and/or your community. Completed information must be submitted in an envelope clearly labeled NYS Honorary Fire Chiefs Scholarship to Joseph Miccio, UFA Recording Secretary, at 204 E. 23rd Street, New York, NY 10010, by January 15, 2011. Note: Those who have already been awarded any other FDNY scholarship for the 2011-2012 school year will not be eligible. Recipients of the UFA scholarship are eligible. any other FDNY scholarship for the 2011-2012 school year will not be eligible.
4. FDNY Track Club Meeting for 2011 NYC World Police Fire Games
REMINDER: On Thursday, January 20, 2011, the FDNY Track Club will be meeting to plan for the running event at the upcoming 2011 World Police Fire Games in New York City. The meeting will be held in the New Cafeteria at Fire Academy. Topics will include events, training and uniforms. 5. Care Packages for Troops Overseas
E-285/L-142 will be collecting and sending care packages to the troops overseas. They will be collecting toiletries (travel size preferred) including bandaids, cortisone cream, baby powder, chapstick, black or white socks, and boxer shorts. Also donations of books, magazines, DVD's and candy items. Donations can be sent to E-285/L-142 at: 103-17 98th Street Ozone Park, NY 11417 Attn: TROOP CARE PACKAGES. If you know of anyone currently deployed overseas contact FF James Denniston (E-285 GR 23) at 631-521-3175 or email email@example.com with their name and military address so they can be included.
