The UFA thanks the 200+ firefighters who turned out on short notice last night!!! We joined with hundreds of PBA members in front of Bloomberg’s home at 0100 hours and once again let our voices be heard. The event concluded with a candlelight vigil and moment of silence in tribute to those who have made the supreme sacrifice protecting the people of NYC. The UFA and PBA will continue our joint pop-up picketing campaign tomorrow (Thursday) in our efforts to obtain a fair contract for NYC's Firefighters and Police Officers. SHORT NOTICE: We need members for the following urgent and important event. Wear your yellow T-shirts if available!!!
• Thursday, August 19th, 1030 hours
We need about 200 members to turn-out at 10:30am to muster in outside of Engine 6 quarters (which is closed for renovations) at 49 Beekman St. (a few blocks East of City Hall Park). We will be marching to a special location/event at or near City Hall which will be announced after members arrive. Each battalion needs to turn-out 4 to 6 members. Turn out one member from each firehouse if at all possible.
On-duty members of firehouses that have Battalion Delegates assigned to them are asked to immediately notify their Delegate(s) and to also call all firehouses (TODAY!!!) within their battalion until at least 4 to 6 volunteers for Thursday are secured from each respective battalion. The senior member working at the Battalion Delegate firehouse needs to list the volunteering members from your battalion on the below form (SEE NEXT PAGE) and fax it back to the UFA Recording Secretary's Office by late tonight, ATTN: Joe Miccio, at 212-683-4359 or 212-683-0710.
