1. Giant Steps for 9/11 Walk & Family Fun Day
On Sunday, October 17th, at 9am from the George Washington Bridge to Fairleigh Dickinson University. Established in 2007 by George Martin, retired co-captain of the Super Bowl New York Football Giants, a Journey for 9/11 is a non-profit organization created to raise funds and awareness to help the first responders of 9/11. Mr. Martin began Journey as a 10-month, cross country trek that attracted national media. The Giant Steps for 9/11 Walk commemorates Mr. Martin's historic walk across America supporting the Heroes of Ground Zero. 2. FF Michael Kiefer (L-132) Annual Doo Wop Memorial Fundraiser
REMINDER: On Sunday October 17th, 4-9pm, at Plattdeutsche Park Restaurant, on 1132 Hempstead Turnpike, Franklin Square, NY. Tickets: $100. 3. 4th Annual Firefighter Cook-Off & Fundraiser
REMINDER: On Wednesday, October 20th from 6-9pm at the NYC Fire Museum located at 278 Spring Street. Tickets: $50 for FF's, $60 in advance (non-FF's), $75 at the door. All are welcome to join for a fun-filled night that includes FH chow from FDNY chefs, beverages, 50/50, raffle and great door prizes. Proceeds go toward creating a new Marine exhibit. 5. NYC Marathon
As per Dept Order #74 any member running in this year's NYC Marathon, who would like to use the Department's bus, is asked to call the Health & Fitness Unit ASAP to reserve a seat. Seats are available to all the runners, their family and friends. The bus will be leaving from Park Central Hotel, located at 57th Street and 7th Avenue at 6am on Marathon Sunday, November 7th.
