1. John Jay College Degree Programs

2. Community Mayors Inc. at the Bronx Zoo
On Thursday, October 7th volunteers are needed at the Bronx Zoo by 8:30am. Volunteers should park between Southern Blvd. & Grote St. (btwn. 183rd & 182nd St.). For more info go to www.communitymayors.org.
3. Columbus Day Parade
On Monday, October 11th, the FDNY Columbia Association participates in the annual celebration of Christopher Columbus. Off-duty members and their families are invited to march. The assembly point is W. 44th St & 5th Ave. by 11am, parade starts at 12pm. Members are requested to attend in dress uniform. 4. FF Michael Kiefer (L-132) Annual Doo Wop Memorial Fundraiser
On Sunday October 17th, 4-9pm, at Plattdeutsche Park Restaurant, on 1132 Hempstead Turnpike, Franklin Square, NY. Tickets: $100. Includes beverages, buffet dinner, desert, raffles, 50/50, T-shirt sale and more. Proceeds benefit the NYC Firefighter Brotherhood Foundation Inc. and the FDNY Fire Family Transport Foundation. 5. Mayor's Graduate Scholarship Program
Open to all city employees, including active members of the FDNY, who have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university and meet the minimum scholarship requirements. Applications and eligibility requirements are posted at www.nyc.gov/mgsp. All applications must be sent to Jacqueline Merveil, FDNY Registrar, Bureau of Training/Fire & Life Safety, 401 Murray Avenue, Ft. Totten, NY 11359. 6. 2010 UFA Scholarship Fund Application-Deadline Oct. 12th!
Applicants must currently be enrolled in college, trade or vocational school. This scholarship is for dependent children of active, retired or deceased Firefighters, Fire Marshals or Marine Wipers who are full-time students up to & including age 23 for undergraduate education. Dependent children, spouses of LOD deceased UFA members, & dependent children of non-LOD deceased UFA members are eligible to receive scholarships for undergraduate but must still fill out an application & provide proof of enrollment.
