Senior Man on FDNY of 42 Years: Tony Catapano E-202 Retires
On Saturday, May 21st, the Senior Firefighter on the job, Tony Catapano, after 42 years is working his last tour straight up and down. Members are invited to stop by and wish him well. Also, Tony's retirement party will take place on Thursday, June 9th from 6pm to 10pm at the Tamaqua Inn, located at 84 Ebony Court in Gerrison Beach. Tickets at the door. Billy Lake and Jimmy Riches Memorial 5K Run
On Sunday, May 15, 2005, at 10:00 am, the 3rd annual 5K run will be held honoring the memory of Firefighters Billy Lake, R-2 and Jimmy Riches, L-114. The 5K run will begin at Harbor Fitness, located at 92nd Street and 4th Avenue, Brooklyn. Pre-registration is $12 in person, by mail or online at www.active.com. Race day registration is $15 starting at 8:00 am. Entry fee includes commemorative T-shirts. All proceeds from the run go to the FDNY Fire Safety Education Fund and the Jimmy Riches Scholarship Fund at Xavier High School. 1st Annual Lt. John Bellew Memorial Paintball Game
Friday May 20th 10am-5pm at Cousins Paintball Newburgh NY. All Members of the FDNY Family and Friends invited. Cost is $50 which includes all of the paintball rental gear and paint you can shoot, BBQ lunch and beverages. All proceeds to go to the Family of Lt. John Bellew. The Dennis Devlin Memorial 5K Run/Walk
On Saturday, May 21, 2005, at 11:00 am, the Dennis Devlin Memorial 5K Run/Walk will be held at the Brotherhood Winery in Washingtonville, NY. Dennis P. McHugh 5K Run/Walk & Family Fair
On Sunday, May 22, 2005, at 10:00am, the 2nd Annual Dennis P. McHugh 5K Run/Walk & Family Fair will be held at Fly Wheel Park in Piermont, NY. Firefighter Meehan's Family Fund

FF Meehan and his new family have left for Minnesota to the Shriners Children's Hospital for a few months along with our thoughts and prayers. College Scholarship Application
Applications for the NYS Honorary Fire Chiefs and NYS Professional Fire Fighters 2005 College Scholarship are now available. Postmark deadline to submit application is June 11, 2005. All information must be submitted to: NYS Professional Fire Fighter's Association, Inc. 111 Washington Avenue, Suite 207, Albany, NY 12210. Eligibility: The scholarship competition is open to high school seniors and recent high school graduates who will not have completed more than one year of college by September 2005. An applicant must not have graduated from high school before 2004 and must be a child of a uniformed member of the NYS Professional Firefighters Association. Scholarship winners will be announced at the 67th Annual Convention of the NYSPFFA held from July 13th through July 16th, 2005. Awards are made when the recipient has registered at an accredited undergraduate college as a full time student or any school furthering education beyond high school. An award of $1000 is given to those students who are selected. Applicants will be required to take the SAT or ACT test. Students must have taken this examination no later than January of 2005. Scholarship Essay: Approximately 400-500 words indicating why you should be the recipient of the award. Columbia Association Dinner Dance
The Columbia Association FDNY will hold its 71st Annual Scholarship Dinner Dance on Thursday, June 16, 2005, at Russo's on the Bay, 162-45 Cross Bay Boulevard, Howard Beach, Queens. This year the Columbia Association will honor the 2005 "Man of the Year", Deputy Chief Arthur J. 2005 Tuttlemundo/Dolney Scholarship Fund
The Tuttlemundo/Dolney Fund will award two $500 academic scholarships towards the college tuition of qualified dependent children. To be eligible for consideration, a child must be: A dependent of a current or former member of Division 15; and currently attending a college that imposes a charge for tuition; or entering a college in September that imposes a charge for tuition. Each dependent child must be entered separately. The winners will be published on a future Department Order. Applications must be received by June 20, 2005. 5th Annual FDNY Night at Brooklyn Cyclones Stadium
Friday, July 15th 2005 at Keyspan Park - 1904 Surf Ave, Brooklyn (Coney Island). The night includes: Smoke House, FD children on the field, Bagpipers, etc. Pre-game ceremony at 6:30 pm. Brooklyn Cyclones vs. Crosscutters at 7 pm. Post-game fireworks display. Pre/Post game party in Peggy O'Neills (located in front of stadium). Tickets are $15 each for grandstand and $10 each for bleacher. Proceeds will go to the UFA Scholarship Fund. Fire Marshal Bob Cashman is the event organizer. Engine 23 Cooling Vest Drive for our Fighting Troops
The members of E23, in conjunction with the Trevor Win'E Fund are sponsoring a drive to equip our fighting troups with cooling vests. Summers in Iraq can produce temperatures above 120 degrees. Troops conduct operations in this heat wearing full combat gear including body armor. Each $125 donated buys one cooling vest to be worn under body armor. All monies will equip NY area based units serving in Iraq. Please give the name or unit you would like the vest to go to. Checks should be made out to the Trevor WinE Memorial Fund. Be sure to write FDNY or your department on bottom of check. Send all checks to E23, Att: Captain John Bendick.
