1. Battle Of The Boroughs Cook-Off
On Saturday, July 17th the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum located at West 48th Street and 12th Avenue is hosting another "Battle of the Boroughs" Cook-off as part of FDNY Family Weekend. Prep begins at 11am, cooking at 12 noon, judging at 3:30pm -(a Food Network Chef is expected to be one of the judges). To sign-up, call Special Events at 718-999-2352 or e-mail Fdnyevents@fdny.nyc.gov. Up to 2 teams per Borough, 2 members per team. Contestants will make an appetizer and entree for 10 people. RSVP your participation as soon as possible. Gas grills will be provided and will be yours to keep. Additional prizes will be given. Come down and prove that your Borough really does make the best chow!


2. Lt. John M. Clancy/FF Jimmy O'Shea Memorial Scholarship Fund
REMINDER: The Lt. John Clancy/FF Jimmy O'Shea Memorial Scholarship Fund will award ten $1000 scholarships and five $2000 scholarships to college bound children of active firefighters and officers of the FDNY. One $1000 scholarship will be chosen exclusively from the eligible students whose FDNY parent participates in this year's golf outing. The awards will be randomly selected at the 15th annual Lt. John Clancy/FF Jimmy O'Shea Memorial Golf Outing to be held on Thursday, July 29th at Rock Hill Country Club, Manorville, NY. The 15th annual Lt. John Clancy/FF Jimmy O'Shea Memorial Golf Outing is the primary tool for funding the scholarships. The outing is all-inclusive and costs $175. Tee and Hole sponsorships cost $100. To be eligible for the scholarships, you must provide all the information on the application which is available online at www.Ltjohnclancyscholarships.org, with proof of enrollment for the Fall 2010 semester. Deadline for scholarship applications is July 20, 2010.


3. Wounded Warrior Soldier Ride
On Thursday, July 22nd from 7am-10pm at 70th Street (btwn 18th & 19th Ave.) in Brooklyn where the wounded warriors will cross the finish line (race begins at Macy's 34th Street in Manhattan). Volunteers are needed to set up tables, tents, and work the grills, assist some of the wounded warriors and other things. Suggested donation: $10 for adults, $5 for children. Checks are preferred and can be made payable to the Wounded Warrior Project. Persons interested in volunteering should contact Lynda Thomson at thomsolm@fdny.nyc.gov. 4. 11th Annual FDNY/NYPD Charity Baseball Game
On Friday, July 30th at 7pm at MCU Park (formerly KeySpan), 1904 Surf Ave the FDNY will take on the NYPD in a baseball game. Tickets: $10, children age 6 and under enter for free. 5. 2nd Annual Mayor's Cup FDNY/NYPD Soccer Game
On Saturday, August 28th at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ at 7:30pm the NYPD will take on the FDNY immediately following the NY Red Bulls vs. San Jose Earthquake match. Tickets: $20. Half of the proceeds go to the FF Sergio Villanueva Soccer Foundation. To order your tickets call 877-RBSOCCER and mention the Mayor's Cup.
