1. St. George Scholarship Dinner Dance
On Friday, April 30th, 7:30pm at Koenig's Restaurant, Floral Park, NY, the FDNY St. George Association, will hold its 73rd Annual Scholarship Dinner Dance. The cost per person is $70. For further info contact James R. Hayhurst at 516-623-1835.
2. E-90 / L-41 Centennial Celebration
On Monday, May 3rd at 11am, E-90 and L-41 will have a Centennial Celebration in their quarters located at 1843 White Plains Road, Bronx, NY. All off-duty members and their families are invited to attend. Members are requested to attend in dress uniform.
3. L-40 Centennial Celebration
On Tuesday, May 4th at 11am, L-40 will have a Centennial Celebration in their quarters located at 415 West 125 Street, New York, NY. All off-duty members and their families are invited to attend. Members are requested to attend in dress uniform.
4. St. Florian Day Mass
On Tuesday, May 4th, at 2pm, the Church of the Assumption, 15 Webster Avenue, Staten Island will hold a mass in honor of all members of the FDNY and to celebrate the feast of St. Florian (Patron Saint of Firefighters). Immediately following the mass, there will be a ceremony at the Chapel of St. Paul, 145 Clinton Avenue, Staten Island, located a few blocks away, where a memorial dedicated to members of the FDNY who died in the Line of Duty and lived in Staten Island is located. The following names will be added at the ceremony: FF Richard Sclafani 2005, FF Robert Beddia 2007, EMS Lt. Brendan Pearson 2005, Lt. John Martinson 2008 and Lt. Robert Ryan 2008. All off-duty members and their families are invited to attend as a mark of respect to the deceased. Members are requested to attend in dress uniform.
5. 2010 Tuttlemundo/Dolney Scholarship Fund
The Tuttlemundo/Dolney Fund will award two $500 academic scholarships towards the college tuition of qualified dependent children. To be eligible for consideration, a child must be: A dependent of a current or former member of Division 15; and currently attending a college that imposes a charge for tuition; or entering a college in September that imposes a charge for tuition. Each dependent child must be entered separately. Applications must be received by June 1, 2010. Applications can be obtained from the FDNY Intranet or online at www.watkinsst.com.
