4. USS New York Library Project - Donations Needed
A library project was been initiated by New Yorker John Churcher who has been an active and helping friend of the FDNY since 9/11. The goal of the project is to donate a library to the USS New York with books and DVDs exclusively about "New York." With the average age of the ship's crew being 22, many have little knowledge of a Firefighter's job, the events of 9/11, New York and ultimately the significance of the Trade Center steel which was used to build the hull. The goal is to provide a comprehensive and compelling library to serve as a living memorial to our "343" and help educate the current and future Sailors and Marines of the USS New York. John Churcher is working closely with Lee Ielpi, Deputy Chief Nick Visconti (Ret.), Deputy Chief Fred LaFemina SOC, Assistant Chief Kevin Butler, Deputy Chief George Healy and Lt. Tony Tarabocchia (R-1). For more info contact Lt. Tony Tarabocchia (R-1) 212-570-4202 or John Churcher at 978-537-3161. Please make checks payable to "USS New York Library/FDNY Rescue 1".
All checks and donations can be mailed to:
