FDNY Ladder 16 Makes Water Rescue

FirefighterHourly.com - October 12, 2009

Firefighter Ronnie Corsale of Ladder 16 is being hailed as a hero after he jumped 15 feet into a fast moving East River yesterday to save a victim.

Ladder 16 arrived on scene and saw a head bobbing in the water as the river was sweeping by their vantage point. Corsale jumped into the river and fast swam to where the victim was going to be and arrived as the victim arrived. The distance was 200 feet.

Firefighters from Ladder 16 then began to pull them to shore via the line attached to Corsale. They were able to pull them back and then up the 15 feet to safety. The swimmer was transported to the hospital.
