Wind Chill Index

Today's Wind Chill Index ('Feels Like' temperature) is and will continue to remain at levels that mandate the Dept to issue a signal 10-51 for Suspension of Outside Activities for the entire day, in accordance with Fire Prevention Manual Chapter 3, Addendum 2.

The Wind Chill Index (WCI) for 10am this morning in NYC as reported by the National Weather Service (NWS) is -6 degrees Fahrenheit. WCI reported by the NWS for today is predicted to range between -10 degrees and 4 degrees Fahrenheit. The Dept mandates a Signal 10-51 when the WCI is 15 degrees or less.

Exact current 'Feels Like' temperatures (Wind Chill Index or Heat Index) can be found on the NWS web site at www.srh.noaa.gov/zipcity.php by entering your zip code. 'Feels Like' temperatures (WCI) are also regularly reported in the media.
