Four Injured In Fire At Brooklyn Fish Market

NY 1

Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused a Friday night fire in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn that left four people injured.

The fire started before 9 a.m. at the Mondello Fish Market on Bay Ridge Avenue in Bensonhurst. The fire spread from the store on the first floor to the apartments above in the three story building.

A woman, child and infant were pulled from the second floor, and an adult was pulled from the third floor.

"We pulled up with a heavy smoke condition on the second floor," said firefighter John Kroon. "We went in off the fire escape, we came across three civilians in the kitchen, pulled them out, and we laddered the side of the building. We brought them down, everything went good, it went good," said a firefighter.

All four people were taken to Maimonides Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
