UFA Election Ballots Mailed Today!
Ballots have been mailed to each member's residence today by American Arbitration Association (AAA), and must be returned to the AAA by 9am on Friday, February 8.
Any member who has not received a ballot by Tuesday, January 29 is directed to call AAA directly at (800) 529-5218, M-F 9am to 5pm, and give their correct residence address (and actual assigned unit - not their detail assignment).
A ballot will be mailed to your home that same day. Ballots will be counted on Friday, February 8 commencing at 9am. Military members serving active duty and not residing in their NY residences may vote via the internet, in accordance with the UFA Constitution.
Election results will be announced on that same day, upon ballot count completion at the AAA. Ballot tabulation at the AAA will be conducted under the oversight of the UFA Election Committee, as per the UFA Constitution.
The Committee consists of the representatives from each borough who are listed on the UFA website. Those elected will take office effective May 1, 2008.
CDLs: Do Not Volunteer!
The Chief of Department issued a memo on January 16, 2008 "advising" members who possess CDL licenses to forward copies to Metrotech through the chain of command.
The memo states its purpose is to have volunteers drive MTA busses for Department functions, including funerals.
The Department has not bargained with the UFA regarding this issue. Giving the Dept your CDL information will allow them to use it for whatever purposes the Dept decides. Therefore, no UFA member should volunteer or provide copies of their CDL license to the Department until further notice from the UFA.
The UFA will meet with the Department regarding this issue.
Fraternally,
