Boy, 9, is Killed in Fire at His Staten Island Home

AP - A 9-year-old boy is dead after a fire tore through his Staten Island home.

Police and fire officials say the boy, Thomas Monahan, was rescued from the second floor of the burning home on Princewood Avenue and taken to Staten Island University Hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Officials say the fire also left three firefighters and three other people with minor injuries. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
