Blaze Tears Through Three-Story Building In Chinatown

NY 1

Fire tore through a three-story building in Manhattan this morning, injuring seven firefighters.

The firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze on the Bowery near Broome Street.

The fire took about 45 minutes to contain.

"[There was] heavy fire in a lighting store," said FDNY Deputy Chief James Daly. "Units moved in with hose lines, they put the fire out, did searches in the residential apartments above, all the people were evacuated."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
