The Fire Department's Bureau of Fire Investigations inducted 22 new Fire Marshals into its ranks Nov. 15 during a ceremony at the department's Brooklyn headquarters.
Calling their work underappreciated, Chief of Department Salvatore Cassano promised that their work does not go unnoticed.
After completing a 13-week training program, the new Fire Marshals are ready to investigate fires and determine their origin. They will work under the supervision of senior Fire Marshals in the field for the next six months. Most of them will be based in Queens.
The new Fire Marshals are George Aguirre, Thomas D. Brusca Jr., Joseph J. Green, Brian T. Kane, William J. Mackin, John W. Malley, Robert H. McDevitt, James F. McNally, Jon F. O'Shaughnessy, John P. Paolella Jr., Josef M. Pruden, Robert H. Ravert, William J. Rohr, Christopher P. Sanacore, Joseph B. Sullivan, Michael J. Swift, Michael A. Tierney, Thomas A. Ubertini, Francis J. Vaskis, Joseph D. Walz, Robert S. Watson and David Wong.
"You should be proud to now be a part of the FDNYs Bureau of Fire Investigations," Assistant Chief Fire Marshal Robert Byrnes told the new Fire Marshals during the ceremony.
