Deadly Fire Rips Through a Home in BK

Three people dead, including a 12-year-old

(Kensington-WABC, Sep. 24, 2007) - Two women and a 12-year-old boy died in a raging second-alarm fire in the Kensington section of Brooklyn this morning. The blaze apparently, broke out in the attic of a three-story house at 257 East 19th Street, near Beverley Road, just after midnight.

Eyewitness News is told trapped in the fast-moving flames were two women, ages 76 and 50. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials also say a 12-year-old boy was rushed from the fire to nearby New York Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

While a 16-year-old boy was burned on both hands and taken to Kings County Hospital in serious but stable condition.

Six firefighters were also treated for minor injuries.
